The tax credit is a tax provision allowing households to deduct from their taxes a portion of expenses incurred for certain work to improve energy efficiency. Each taxpayer can receive the tax credit, whether taxable or not. (If you’re not taxable you will receive a refund) The tax credit is 8000euros per person 16000euros for a couple 400 for the 1st child, 500 for the 2nd and 600 each additional child. You must be a permanent tax resistance in France. The house must be a principle residence either your own or rented out by you.

In addition to the tax credit a reduced rate of VAT 5.5% on equipment and labour if your home is more than two years old. Finally, As of March 2009, one can obtain a loan eco PTZ (loan rate 0%). There are numerous other grants & low interest loans available for landlords, companies, Farmers, shopkeepers, artisans, low income families the list is long and changes frequently.
